Prescribed burn of mitigation brush pit planned for July 28

CRESTONE—Weather permitting, commencing Saturday, July 28 at 1:00 AM, the Baca Grande POA mitigation pit will be ignited.  The Baca Grande Fire Department will monitor the prescribed burn for 48 hours.  Personnel and fire equipment will be present for the duration of the burn.  If the weather conditions are not favorable, the burning of the mitigation pit will be postponed until the conditions are favorable.  This action is being taken due to the large amount of mitigation debris that has accumulated.  If the burn does not occur in the next four weeks, the mitigation pit may have to close due to the volume of mitigation debris.
