Astrologically Speaking . . . with Ananur – May 2008

May begins with “a Grand Trine in Earth signs.” It doesn’t get much better than this for manifesting your goals in the material world. Venus is in early Taurus, Saturn is in early Virgo and Pluto is in early Capricorn. Financially I expect an upswing. These aspects suggest dependability, practical sensibility, reliable partnership, security, and stability. What a great time to start a business, or begin a new relationship. Between 12:15-2:15pm the Moon & Uranus in Pisces will be aspecting Jupiter, making it incredibly lucky for those who act on their intuition.

Jupiter in Capricorn is favorably aspecting Uranus in Pisces until May 26.

May 2 Mercury will enter into Gemini, the sign that it rules, speeding up the mind and filling us with curiosity and lots of questions. The hunger to learn and share information is ignited. Mercury will remain in Gemini until July 11. Mercury will be turning retrograde on May 26 at 9:48am until June 19 at 8:31am.

May 2 Mercury will be aspecting Pluto, indicating the need to get to the core of issues. You’re not satisfied until you’ve done your own research and come to your own conclusions. Saturn will be turning direct today at 7:34pm after having been retrograde since December 19, 2007. With Saturn, now direct, it’s time to move forward with your plans to manifest prosperity and security for yourself and your family.

May 2-3 Mercury in early degrees of Gemini is aspecting Saturn in early Virgo. You have a choice: to fall into worry and negative thinking, or to notice the tendency to worry, yet focus your mental energy on finding solutions.

May 5 The New Moon will take place with the Sun and Moon at 15 degrees of Taurus at 6:19am. This particular degree of Taurus is known to be rigid and hard to shift. Anyone born on this day of any year will be challenged to shift their consciousness and will be aware of areas of thought which have a stuckness to it. Arguments and stalemates will be common during this phase (lasts until the next New Moon June 3).

The Sun is in an unusual aspect with Pluto (135 degrees, called a “sesquiquadrate”) which suggests the ego addiction to being “right,” and inflexible, going along with the 15 degrees of Taurus New Moon. At the same time Venus is aspecting Uranus, igniting friction in personal relationships where there is a lack of respect for another’s uniqueness.

May 6 Between 1:30-3:30pm the Moon will be conjunct Mercury in Gemini, stimulating ideas which come spontaneously during conversations. Mercury is aspecting Jupiter which causes the tendency to get too scattered with thoughts and things to do. The Sun and Pluto are still igniting ego conflicts.

May 9 Jupiter will turn retrograde and remain in slow motion until September 8.

Remember that retrograde means that the planet involved is moving so slowly in comparison to the other planets that it is astronomically calculated as if it were moving backwards, but it’s not really moving backwards. With Jupiter retrograde we are challenged by the Cosmos to go within to find a deeper source of faith and confidence for answers that normally we might be seeking outwardly.

May 9 Mars will enter into Leo and remain in this very assertive fire sign until July 1. Confidence, determination, loyalty to a principle and courage are motivating factors in what gets you off your duff. This is a great time for taking the role of leader, in a new, more evolved way of encouraging confidence in others and knowing how to delegate and share power, rather than the old way of simply dictating and holding on to all the power as a leader.

The old ways are needing to be upgraded, obviously. Those of us who were born with Pluto in Leo are very aware of the shift that needs to take place within in order for leadership qualities to manifest in a way that embraces the power of others rather than fears it. Those who were born with Pluto in Leo are those individuals born between June 1939-June 1958.

May 9-11 The Sun in Taurus is in a favorable aspect with Uranus in Pisces. Put your intuition to the test and use it for practical concerns. Your ability to feel and sense subtle energies is stronger than usual right now. Trust your intuition.

May 10 Mars and the Moon are in Leo together from 5:15-7:15pm. Observe the energies around you and within you at this time and see if your ego’s need to be “right” is being challenged. Also notice how leadership is being misused or honorably being portrayed. Obama is a Leo Sun sign person. It will be curious to see if this aspect effects him as a leader with integrity or if his ego gets threatened during this transit. Mars is aspecting Pluto which also suggests problems with power and greed.

May 10-12 The Sun in Taurus is now aspecting Jupiter in Capricorn. Financial dealings should prove successful. Starting or expanding a business would prove to be prosperous. Anyone who was born: May 11,12,13, September 14, 15,16, January 12,13,14 of any year will find that this is a “lucky” time for them. Opportunities come and you have to be ready to say “Yes.” The world economy should be improving.

May 12 Mars and Saturn are in a positive aspect which will increase patience and concentration. You’ll feel a great deal of determination to complete certain projects. Venus is awkwardly aspecting Pluto which means it would bring about greater inner peace if you were to deal with a past love relationship which still needs some degree of completion and clarity. There may be some anger and resentment held which needs to be embraced and healed.

May 12-14 The Sun is aspecting Neptune which brings about confusion and disillusionment. It is imperative to look at what is in front of you without rose-colored glasses. The tendency is to not want to know what you sense is real. It hurts, it’s no fun to know what you know sometimes, and this is one of those times. There is deception in the air. Observe what is being said, know that something is missing: the truth.

May 16-18 Venus is aspecting Uranus and Jupiter, a fine time to begin a romance or enliven the relationship you’re in. An infusion of romance and the element of surprise mixed together, and you’ve got the ideal combination to express your joy and appreciation for your mate. Creative energy is flowing freely in new ways.

May 18-20 Venus will be aspecting Neptune taking dreamy idealists into an unreal version of reality, thus suggesting the possibility of disappointment. It’s hard to get it together with material goals at this time.

May 19 The Full Moon will take place at 8:12pm with the Moon at 29 degrees of Scorpio and the Sun at 29 degrees of Taurus. 29 degrees is the last degree of the sign before it enters the next sign. And is known to be “a critical degree.” This means it is imperative to learn the lessons which are being presented at this time. We’re looking at insurance, inheritance, shared finances, intimacy issues, and sexual preferences all as issues in the foreground. Because Taurus and Scorpio are “fixed signs” we must learn to be more flexible, as the tendency with fixed signs is to be rigid and steadfast, devoted to remaining the same, no matter what. This makes no sense, as life is about change.

May 20 is when the Sun will enter into Gemini at 10:01am and remain here in this inquisitive air sign until June 20. As the Sun enters Gemini it will be aspecting Saturn in Virgo, until May 22. Certainly the mind is being challenged, with fear and dread being stimulated by events at this time. It’s necessary to ask questions and observe your senses and gut feelings at this time rather than listening to fears that the mind seems to be setting a trap for you to fall into. Be smart and look for solutions. Saturn can be useful for those who choose to do some research rather than fall back into lethargic depressive thinking.

May 22 Mars will be aspecting Uranus. It’s always sensible to be cautious while driving when Mars harshly aspects Uranus. Electrical problems also are likely.

May 24 Venus enters into Gemini and remains here until June 18. A sociable time when meeting new friends proves to be mutually beneficial. Networking with others involved in your field of interest would be stimulating. Probably this is a good time for internet dating. I keep meeting couples who have met this way, and their relationships are working. I’m amazed. In fact, my next door neighbor is getting married this month to someone she met online.

May 24-26 Venus is harshly aspecting Saturn which promotes concern for a new born relationship which doesn’t yet have a firm foundation to suggest a promise of longevity. The relationship is tested for reliability and trust to determine the potential for long term life-span, or not.

May 26 Mercury will be turning retrograde at 9:48am until June 19 at 8:31am. You know what this means, by now. The Cosmos wants us to turn within. Striving to make things happen in the outer world is like swimming upstream; it’s hard to do it, yet it can be done with incredible perseverance. Hopefully you’ve taken care of your car/truck and it doesn’t need any new parts. Remember that communication problems come about at this time, so do not make any assumptions. Always seek to ask questions to make sure that you’ve understood the other person accurately. In fact this is always a good practice.

May 27 The Sun will be aspecting Jupiter, uncomfortably. With the Sun and Jupiter a nasty aspect is never too bad. The problem with this is that being joyful and optimistic could cause one to overlook some details which could make one a bit less than objective. You could be too attached to having circumstances turn out a certain way. Happiness comes and so does the urge to indulge and throw discipline to the wind.

May 29 more indulgent urges are being triggered by an aspect between Venus and Jupiter. The urge to give generously and spend money freely could backfire. I can hear it now, “Oops, I’ve accidentally overdrawn my checking account, thinking I was doing a good deed.” I remember a friend (Aries, known to be spontaneous and naturally generous) giving my friend’s (his wife’s) bureau to someone who needed one!

May 30-31 The Sun will be favorably aspecting Mars activating physical energy and ambition. Aggressive violent expressions of energy are also likely.
